Yamuna was born in Innsbruck. Already in her early childhood she was drawn to music very much. For hours and hours she sang songs of music legends like Mahalia Jackson, Elvis Presley, Janis Joplin and Carol King every day. Even though music and singing were Yamuna's greatest passion, her extraordinary talent was not sufficiently recognized and encouraged then. Nevertheless, already in those days she already felt this deep inner desire to become a singer one day.
In 1992 Yamuna gave birth to her daughter Lisa which became the most important event in her life. Yamuna wanted to give all her love and care to her child. In the following years she concentrated all her power and energy on showing responsibility as a mother and accepting this challenge. This new task completely filled her life.
Various experiences made while Lisa was growing up raised Yamuna’s desire not only to sing but rather to write her own songs in order to express her experiences.
In the years to come, Yamuna made many musical and vocal experiments and was inspired by different styles of music. Bit by bit those experiences formed Yamuna and enabled her to develop her very personal style.
At this time Yamuna also began to find out more about her own personality, her talents, her feelings, and her spiritual roots. Her confidence in her abilities increased and she realized that every human being has a specific task which is given to us – a vocation. Therefore, Yamuna became aware of her own vocation - which she had already felt in her childhood - to sing and to pass on feelings and wishes to people through music.
Confirmed by her deep inner development, her confidence in God and her way, Yamuna began to work on her first own songs. She began to write lyrics and to find melodies which she perceived straight from her heart.
At that time Yamuna got to know Petra Müller and soon they became close friends. From the beginning Petra Müller was deeply impressed by Yamuna's talent and voice and decided to support Yamuna. She encouraged her to work on her songs and her voice. This cooperation set a stone rolling - Yamuna had more confidence in her talent and could therefore develop artistically more and more - her voice gained even more expression, strength and character.
Marc Hess, musician and Yamuna’s tutor, recognized this and in 1998 a cooperation with Marc Hess and Andi Cutic began. Together they produced a demo CD called "Inspiration". Andi Cutic's sensitive arrangements with acoustics guitar emphasized the expression and strength of Yamuna's voice and her songs. Already with this unplugged CD Yamuna succeeded in getting first air-plays and interviews in radio stations and she could deeply impress and fascinate the press and audience at various live-performances.
Driven and confirmed by this success Yamuna developed an even larger enthusiasm and the strong will to proceed.
On her search for a professional producer, Yamuna became acquainted with different people and she felt that she was well guided on her way. So Yamuna managed to establish the contact to a very well renowned studio in Florida, the “Difference Studios”. Thus, she was able to interest the U.S. for her music.
The singer, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist DavidMikeal who had a classical and jazz training for piano and saxophone in the U.S. and who can look back on a long cooperation with very popular artists and bands of the international music industry, was fascinated by Yamuna's songwriter talent and her expressive strong voice; an extraordinary cooperation over thousands of kilometers started. David Mikeal newly produced six of Yamuna’s songs in the “Difference Studios” in finest rock-pop-quality. Thanks to his extraordinary and sensitive instrumentation the expression of the songs was even more strongly emphasized and highlighted.
Yamuna's unshakeable belief and her confidence directed her from the very beginning. She is determined to go on and through all the people she can inspire with her music, she is confirmed to proceed again and again and again.
